About us
Behind every piece of Mimpiani is an island - and our story.
The inspiration that brought these Balinese handmade clothes, bags and jewellery to life is hidden in the soul of Bali: a place that is not only a geographical point but also a feeling. The gentle touch of the wind over the rice paddies, the glimmer of sunlight on the blue sea, and the silence of the temples - all part of what we live and shape every day. We live here, we design here, and we work here every day with the Balinese craftsmen - and their friends - who hand-mould Mimpiani pieces. Our clothes, bags and jewellery are not made on a production line, but through collaboration, shared dreams, design and are the result of human hands, attention and tradition.
We dream it pieces for the soul - and they make it happen with hands, with care, with real connection. The result is not just a product, but a story: a harmony of our creative energy and local craftsmanship.
The craftspeople's stories are inspiring and heartfelt. They are the ones who start work in the early morning sunshine, listening to the birds singing and the breeze whispering. For them, work is not just a source of livelihood, but part of their identity, the preservation of their culture and the passing on of their traditions. When you touch a Mimpiani work of art, you are actually touching you feel the care, love and patience of the masters. And with each purchase, you can you are supporting their livelihoods and the preservation of their traditions.
Mimpiani pieces are not made on a production line, but from the heart, dream and hand. All our clothes and bags start with a vision: shapes, colours and patterns that capture a feeling, a moment or an inner mood. They are then brought to life by Balinese artisan communities, people who have been preserving and passing on traditional techniques for generations. These craftsmen do not just make something, they pour their hearts and souls into each piece. A batiked dress is not just a fabric: every colour, every pattern tells the story of Balinese culture, evoking the faith and hopes of the islanders.
Below we show you how to turn a carefully selected raw material into a wonderful creation for you - step by step.

Material selection, design and pattern making
Behind every Mimpiani piece is a conscious decision. After selecting the raw materials, we dream up the colours, shapes, curves and patterns. The designs are then taken over by our Balinese craftsmen, whose hands turn the imagined pieces into reality.
That's how every piece is born: from a shared vision, a conscious choice and patient, hand-crafted work.
How are Mimpiani clothes made?
The ideas for the collections are inspired by our own experiences, the atmosphere of the island and the natural rhythms we experience. We dream up the cuts, colours and patterns - and then we make them happen in collaboration with Balinese craftsmen and seamstresses. The garments are made from natural materials (viscose), which are tie-dye and batik techniques or with hand-printed patterns decorated - so each piece is unique.
The snapshots below give you a glimpse into the special details of Mimpiani garments: see how the batik patterns are made and how the unique motifs are hand-printed on the textiles.

Our clothes made with batik technique
The designs are individually hand stamped onto the textile with warm wax - so each piece is made with the patience of the craftsmen and the Balinese tradition.

Our hand-printed clothes
They are screen-printed with pattern blocks - the fine details of the motifs on the garments are hand-printed, making each piece truly special.
How is a Mimpiani bag made?
Balinese artisans weave the patterns one by one, by hand - slowly, patiently, as they have been taught for generations. Each knot, each bow, preserves the movements of their hands and the love with which these timeless pieces are created.
We design the shapes and patterns - we dream up colours, details and character, which the craftspeople then implement at their own pace. The raw material: recycled synthetic rattan, which is shaped by winding and spinning techniques. The construction starts with a spirally braided structure: each element of the pattern is inserted one by one, by hand, into the basic shape. No two pieces are exactly alike - each one bears the handiwork of the maker. The braiding is followed by the attachment of straps and closures, and each bag is individually checked to ensure that it meets Mimpiani quality in terms of shape, support and detail

How your bracelet is born
Each stitch is hand-stitched into place - with care, patience and heart. Materials - yarns, beads, minerals and natural accessories - are selected individually, taking into account their durability, texture and aesthetics. The lacing and knotting is entirely done by hand, step by step: no machine-made, no pre-made templates.

Before it is given to you, it is blessed in a Balinese ceremony - so that it is not only beautiful, but full of meaning.

Last step: inspection and packaging - environmentally friendly
Once each piece is finished - whether it's a dress, bag or bracelet - we take them in hand one by one. We go over the details: the seams, the shape, the support and the finer points of the construction. We don't use machines, we check that everything is of the quality we want to represent.
Then comes the packaging, which is as much a conscious part of the process as the design or making. We only use materials that are recycled or come from environmentally friendly sources.
Our aim is not only to make packaging beautiful and safe, but also to leave a mark - not on Earth, but in the heart of the wearer.
Our philosophy
Be yourself. Be unique. Be free.
This is our philosophy.
And all our pieces whisper it when you put them on.
This project is not just bringing products into homes; it is building bridges between people around the world. Every purchase is an opportunity to support these artisans, and indirectly contribute to a sustainable, happier community. These pieces are not just objects - they are stories. The hope is that someone will wear them, use them, and continue to weave these stories.
